EA = slave labor
I have always discourage anyone from seeking an entry level developer position with a gaming company. The gaming companies hire you as an exempt salaried employee and work you for hundreds of hours of overtime each year, with no compensation.
Being hired as an exempt salaried employee is actually a standard for most IT jobs. Management can require you to work hundreds of hours of overtime a year, with no compensation.
Seems the game developers have lost the fight to retain this practice. Does that mean I've changed my mind about recommending a gaming company? Right now, no.
This will hopefully have a good long term affect in this labor abusive industry. Perhaps EA will turn things around and become a premier choice for employment? Who knows. But it will take a complete change in corporate culture and labor practices before that happens.

I hope things get better for game programmers, but I am still glad my husband chose Raytheon over EA.
